Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day 72 ( 16th Feb ) Full time classes start today, my first class is at 9:30 -10:30. It is so hard to speak slowly as English is my first language I don’t realise how fast I speak until I say a sentence and my students have such a confused look on their faces. Some words no matter how many different ways you try and explain it the meaning just does not get through to them. Patience is definitely a key to teaching.
I have lunch and then have another class till 4:00pm the students did not turn up as I think it is exam time for them now so many will be studying for that. Instead after waiting around for a bit Ratana and I go to the market to get a few things.
Ratana does some of my bargaining for me because she is a local they will give her a much cheaper price than for me where they will double it. However, if they see I am with her sometimes they will still be stubborn and not lower the price.
We had a volunteers meeting at the best bakery ever just piles and piles of yummy food all freshly baked. You can watch them making the items through these big class windows. We sat up stairs and discussed how things were going both here and in so-nuke vill which is their partner place.
Came back to the house to have dinner and do a class at 6-7pm before bed.
