+ Travel in a world of adventures
Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day 37 (12th Jan 2016) I set my alarm to go off at 7:30am as we were planning to leave around 9:30am which will most likely be more like 10:00am. I got ready and packed up my bag once again for everyone to be ready. I said my goodbyes to Gordon and my uncle David and aunty Julia earlier this morning as they had to leave for work. Once everything was packed up and ready to go I said goodbye to the farm and we were off heading down the road back to Durban with Sharon driving and granny in the front seat.
We were about half way into the trip that was only meant to take 1:45 to stop to swap drivers and grab a bite to eat as it was now 12 noon the time we were meant to arrive in Durban. 45 minutes later we were back on the road to make it to Durban by 1:30pm. Turning into the Van Rooyen family’s driveway in Westville was surreal. I hopped out the car to press the security gate buzzer and then walked through when it opened. Nicole was running up the stairs to meet me, it was so unreal to be really there giving her a hug after years of living in a different country.
She had not change a bit since I saw her last, did not look a day older. I put my stuff in the guest bedroom and my rattling on began. I love homes where you can walk in and feel totally natural and at home. Danielle came up to see me and I was just so happy to be finally here in my childhood family friends place. I said my sad goodbyes to Gran and Sharon. It is such an emotional rollercoaster saying goodbyes, and at the same time being happy to see old friends. To think I have saved up, travelled, and now seen and been with grandparents and cousins from both sides of the family. A dream come true. Now starts a different side of my overseas adventure.
Once Shannon come home she took me to her gym where we did a pilates / yoga class which I loved as I have not done any exercise in about a month which is just shocking and I am starting to be able to tell. We come back to an amazing home cooked meal that Danielle had made for us, she is a chef for her job so it is awesome to have the pleasure of eating her creations each night.
