+ Travel in a world of adventures
Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day 96 (11th March 2016 ) Buffet breakfast was on the top floor of the hotel overlooking the streets and rice fields of Hoi an. Allowing my eye to see as far as the river that surrounds us. First thing of the day was to drop off laundry and get nails done. My feet needed some tlc and then just got a manicure done at the same time just for fun. All this pampering took me, Jenni and Caroline till about midday just before lunch.
We walked over the bridge and into the first market and street stalls that caught my eye. We meet up with Alicia a girl from South Africa and we got dragged into getting some leather sandals custom made to my feet. It was amazing and for half the price I would pay back home for standard shoes. They said they would be done this afternoon by around 5:00pm. So we carried on working our way through the cutest streets I've ever seen. All so colourful and picturesque. Luckily I ended up near the tailors for my fitting at 1:00pm. That weren’t ok, pants were all over the place and it did donuts in my mind but they put lines on where to put things in and said to come back at 4:00pm.
So Alicia and I headed down the little streets to make our way towards the market where we ordered our shoes. They said to be there at 5:15pm. It was now just before six and they close at 6:00 so we were sprinting trying to make it there on time. Made it there and no owner was visible. The next door stores gave the owner a call and next thing they were there. I tried the shoes on and a perfect fit. They were all good besides the fact that they were a different colour to what I ordered. It was too late to do anything about it so I just took them. Now I have a custom pair of shoes that were made just for my feet - so exciting.
Went back to the tailors for my last fitting - everything a perfect fit. Pants were maybe too perfect fit to my body so not sure if I can sit down but I was told the fabric is stretchy so it should be all good.
We walked through the markets some more before going back to the hotel to meet before finding a place for dinner where there is apparently the best chef in Hoi An. And yeah the food was pretty good even though he was not there that night. It was called Green Chill. While we were waiting for our food some of us went to find the best dessert place ever ! We each got a different type of cake and split it between ourselves so we could all try all the flavours. It was so good. Of course my favourite kind was chocolate and chocolate mousse. Walked back to the hotel through the streets and up to bed.
