+ Travel in a world of adventures
Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day 91 (6th March 2016) Sunday. My last full day in Cambodia. Wake up stiff on the floor, my hip bones bruised but it’s all part of the experience right. Get ready for the day ahead, go down and have a big communal breakfast where the wedding was last night. Fried rice and pork for breakfast.
Everyone heads straight for the bus, once on I’m told everyone wants to go up the mountain for a road trip. I’m keen so all 35 of us catch the bus 2 hours up to the mountain to an abandoned old hotel that stands on the top of the mountain. Beautiful views and so interesting to explore through. You are in amongst the clouds so it felt like I was floating. A few minutes down the mountain stands a massive new hotel that is almost a replica of the old and has massive gardens in front. The long bus ride back stopping at a pretty doggy place for lunch on the side of the road, but I was starving so I had some. It was pretty good, better than I was expecting. We keep on driving through cam pot and back to Phnom Penh and arrive late in the afternoon around 6:30pm.
Went back to the house until 8:30pm, however, I wasn’t feeling too great but decided to go to the meeting at the dorms to help out but soon realised it was a very bad idea. I couldn’t sit, I couldn't stand, I just felt so ill. I went to grab some water, sat back down and realised I needed to go back the house and fast. Rach took me on the back of the motto, the fresh air was actually good, however, when stopping at her flat to get me some medication it just all flooded back. I was hot, very very hot and dizzy, had a very sore stomach and I said I would wait below outside as I couldn't manage the stairs up to her flat, however, I really felt very sick like really really sick. I hopped off the motto and burnt my leg on the exhaust, flip that was painful but I was too ill to even think about it. All I wanted to do in that moment was to feel better. Feeling yuck absolutely sucks !! We drove back to the house and no one was there. We didn’t have keys and I needed to spew. We waited for a good 15-20 min outside before someone could come open for me and by this stage I was shaking and felt very weak. Spent the rest of the night not great so just hope my flight tomorrow will be fine. Still not sure what I had. I think something between sunstroke, dehydration, food poisoning and a fever.
