Day 79 (23rd Feb ) Breakfast , The 9:30am class went good today. I felt as though I was starting to get somewhere. I incorporated a few games into the lesson which were on topic and allowed my student to practise what he had learnt in a practical way.
Lunch was great. A new field worker has arrived back who is dating Laluene, one of the students. This means he can take on more students who don’t have teachers. Two of my afternoon classes were cancelled today as my students were sick. Let’s just hope I don't get sick as being ill sucks! I was made to take on different class this evening from 5:30pm -6:30 pm at last minutes notice. It was a little difficult and hard to teach with no preparation time with an advanced student. So you cannot just teach the basics. But I am trying not to complain. I have chosen to come here and help teach those in need. It is teaching me at the same time lots and lots of patience and perseverance.
Everyone came downstairs to have dinner before some of us headed out to city mall. We found a gelato bar so of course had to have some of that. Then decided to go see a movie as it just so happened to be 50% off tonight and only $1.50 ticket and $0.75 for popcorn. This is super cheap as most cinemas in New Zealand are around $15 or more for an adult ticket. We got given blankets as inside the cinemas they had the air con on. The seats were so comfy as you could tilt them back so you didn't have to crank your neck to see the screen. I watched Concussion which was a really good educational film that is a true story. Talking about the history of American football and how players suffer from concussions leading to psychotic behaviour later on in life.
We walked home with most people still up and about doing I don't really know what at the time of 12:00pm midnight.
