+ Travel in a world of adventures
Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day 25 (31st Dec 2015 ) New Year’s eve. The day starts out with an early morning swim. The sun is up at 6:00am and shines through the curtains enticing me to get up and ready for the day. I pack my suitcase and get ready for our road trip to The Estuary, Port Edward on the KwaZulu Natal south coast which is where the B-family have a timeshare.
The drive was really peaceful and quick, with the journey only being about 1 hour 45 minutes long. I arrived to walk through the front door and was faced with this amazing view through the big glass door leading to the porch straight in front of me. Everything feels like “summer and the ocean” with the blue and white colours. Being here is time to relax and get away from the busy city for a while. Me, Kayla and Hannah volunteer for being on the three course dinner duty. First starting with a pasta dish, then moving on to tacos and finishing with cinnamon buns that are still waiting in the oven.
We take a walk to the beach once our food has had time to settle and bring blankets to lie and watch the stars. The boys light a few fireworks and we decide to go for a night swim in the sea. To my surprise the water was quite warm. After returning back to the estuary and washing off the salty feeling it was just a couple more moments left of 2015. We all went out to the porch to count down and watch the fireworks that would be lit on New Year’s midnight. The night was amazing and it was so lovely to be around amazing family friends. I wish you all a great year ahead. If I was to say anything it would be to don't worry so much. Go out and go on a spontaneous adventure, spend time with the people you love but don't be afraid to go out and meet new people to create new memories with. 2015 has been a hard year for me. It is the year I finished 13 years of school, the year I moved out of home to go and explore, but most of all it was the year I realised I don't want to live in normality. Good night / good morning and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.
