+ Travel in a world of adventures
Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day 50 (25th Jan ) I woke in time to make to it to breakfast this morning, which I think I was over excited about as I went back so many times trying to make up for not making it in time yesterday. The food was so good with cereal, pancakes, toast and fruit.
A girl called Sophie, my roommate Sarah and I headed out into Bangkok in search of the Saturday market. We had no luck finding it but instead just wondered around the streets sucking in the rush of Bangkok. We retuned just in time before it started raining.
The group meet up in the lobby and we decided to head out to the nearest shopping centre to find food out of the wet weather. Turns out the mall only contained food and book stores so once we were full we headed over to the ....... temple where there was a massive Buddha lying down and every tourist in Thailand seemed to be there. Although I do not believe the same as Thai people, worshiping idols and statues, I do find it interesting to learn about their culture and beliefs. Six of us from the group wanted to head back after a couple of hours looking at the temples, so to cut costs we all squeezed into a small cab( taxi) for the tight 20 minutes back.
Later we went out to get street Thai food from a store across the road before racing back to the hotel to grab our bags before walking through the station to catch our overnight train. This is my first overnight train I have even been on and to be honest I was expecting a lot worse. There are seats that you can put a table in the middle to eat our dinner then when it starts to get dark the crew come around and pull down the beds. You get a pillow and a blanket all clean and sheets on the mattress. We played a couple of rounds of guess who with animals and celebrities.
I am now all tucked up in bed which feels like a little cocoon being behind the curtains that draw across.
