Day 41 (16th Jan 2016 ) Today is the day of Paint balling. I am excited but very nervous as all who have done paint ball before have come back with bruises the size of Africa.
Anyway we just chill for the morning and put on old clothes and leave at 11:15 to go fetch Adam and Jackie. Adam is not there of course so we wait till he gets home from his sport and gets ready before we head over to pick up Emma, Ruben, David and swap into a bigger car. It takes a good 25 min to get there and it is raining but thankfully it stops to a light drizzle when we get there. We gear up and the guide runs through instructions of safety. You are given a top and a helmet and that’s it. My nerves are getting high but there’s no backing out now. We drew out of a hat for the teams and now is game on.
He blows the whistle and paintballs start flying ! We run up trying to gain ground before the opposing team. My heart is racing and all of a sudden Shannon screams, she is the first to be shot. We play until all shots are taken from each side with each individual person finishing their paint balls. Next round starts and you have to get the flag in the centre. It is just brutal now that everyone is warmed up and knows how to shoot. I am stuck behind an old car trying to miss the paint ball as they are flying over my head one hits me on the side of my face and boy was that sore. I jump out of cover from the car to run to the next barrier and Adam shoots me on my thigh. I am dying - the pain screams out my leg and then smack ! Jackie who is on my team and less than 2m away from me shoots me right in the back if the head. My head is now spinning and I cannot breathe with my helmet on and then Nicole come around the corner and fires a paint ball out her gun so fast I don't even know what is happening. I didn't have time to put my hand up and it hits me just above the knee. The scariest thing is when you realise how intense and scary war must have been.
I would describe paint balling as very intense but fun as we know it’s only a paintball that won’t kill you. We come out looking a complete mess, drop the others back at their home and then Jay (Shannon's boyfriend) asks for us to go and see a flat with him. It is slightly embarrassing as we have paint everywhere our hair is upside down and our feet are so muddy. Anyway we go and meet him there and come home to collapse with exhaustion, muscle pain and physical pain with all our bodies. And watch a bit of one tree hill before bed.
