+ Travel in a world of adventures
Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day 61 (5th Feb 2016) An early rise and breakfast with a view beside the sea before meeting in the lobby for a taxi to come pick us up to go snorkelling for the day. We all squish into the back of the truck with another couple also on our tour where it took us to a cafe to get geared up and go through a few rules.
The first challenge was to step between 5 different boats all lined up in the water to get to ours which was on the end. About 20 min later we stop to jump off the boat to start our first snorkel of the day. The water is so refreshing. I just lay face down in the water and my body floats on the surface of the water and just use my arms to glide every so often doing breaststroke. We get back in the boat after 30 minutes of snorkelling in that area and cruise to the new spot where there are massive reefs with amazing coloured fish, some florescent, most travelling in packs which I think is called a school of fish.
We are given lunch, before we depart again, which is rice and a fried egg. The last stop is gorgeous, making me want to explore and learn more about the underground waters and sea life. Last stop of the day is for me is a paradise island known as Koh Nangyuan island. It is picture perfect with white sand and bright blue / green waters. We walk up a tiny steep path to reach the famous and very popular lookout rock on top of the hill which overlooks the bay and looks straight down the strip of sand in the middle of two waters. Once down I decide to have one last go at snorkelling while I have to chance, after swimming and noticing fish swimming right next to me.
We depart and head back to Koh Tao where another dip in the sea was needed and a swim in the pool to rinse off the salt water. Dinner is at a restaurant down a street beside the resort and then out for a night of drinks. Fire dancing is on display at the bar which is so mesmerising to watch but makes me so nervous at the same time. 2:30am is the time I end up getting to bed after watching alcohol take over most of the group some definitely making decisions I bet they will regret tomorrow... (today as its now morning). Good night or should I say good morning.
