Day 93 (8th March 2016) Vietnam. My first official day in Vietnam has begun. Breakfast was at the hotel. Standard buffet all you can eat meal. We start a city tour with taking a bus to the city Palace and then a grand church in the centre of town. The plan was to spend time inside but unfortunately we could not go it but it was beautiful to look at from the outside. Across the road was the famous post office in Vietnam, it is still functioning and there is an old man who has been working there for 60 odd years. I spotted him in the corner, so was so cool to see he still comes to work each day and wasn't just something they said. The building was as if I had stepped back in time.
Back on the bus we went to the very fascinating but quite graphic Vietnam War memorial were they display the Vietnam war photography and how people are being affected by it now with birth defects. Once we finish up there my Contiki group hop on the bus to the airport of Ho Chi MinH and catch our first group flight. The 45 minute flight over islands and the waters are gorgeous before arriving in Nha Trang, a coastal city that feels like one big busy resort.
So we arrive at our hotel which is just about 300 meters from the beach front, change and head out to a spa to have a mud bath. It was so cool - our group got 4 different baths to divide between ourselves. The mud was a lot more watery than I expected but made my skin baby smooth when I hopped out. To wash off we soaked in a hot pool that was at the same spa as the mud pools. It was so relaxing and a good bonding time as we had to all hold each other down from floating away when in the mud pools.
Later in the night we walked down to the best restaurant in the whole of Vietnam, it was as if I was in dreamland. It was laid out as if it was a resort with loungers and swings. I decided to go for Pasta and it was best meal ever. We were sitting at a big table right on the beach. Then for dessert bean bags were laid out for us to lounge on whilst watching a fire dance show. Time for bed it was a long but good day. It’s now 12:30 at night ... Or should I say morning.
