+ Travel in a world of adventures
Read my full day to day blog of my first big overseas solo trip.
Day One : I am over the moon that this day is really here. I have spent so many hours dreaming of how this would all turn out, so many months counting down the weeks and days until I leave the nest to go and see the world that we live in and now it is finally here. I feel numb, like it really isn’t me who is sitting at Auckland airport staring front on with the Emirates double decker plane. Part of me feels like I am to “blonde” for this trip… what happens if I miss a flight or what happens if I get lost or what happens if … all these ‘what ifs’ are playing a toll on my mind but really we don’t know what’s ahead of us, what’s around the corner so all we can do is jump with both feet into an adventure that is just waiting for me to start.
Flight one - Auckland to Melbourne 4 1/2hours
Walking onto my first flight really put everything into perceptive. There was no turning back now. I am in this for the long haul. I was staring out of the window watching the plane slowly roll back, I wanted to do a little squeal of excitement but as I looked around the plane no one seemed as excited as me. Was I the only one excited to embark on a journey that would take me to my first destination of Muscat Oman? Four and a half long hours later I was in Melbourne. Now I could see why not so many of those people on the previous flight were all that excited to be staring down a long flight journey. I now had one hour to wait before I was staring down a 14 hour long flight journey from Melbourne to Dubai!
My body was filled with both between exhaustion and excitement……My heart races as the announcement for the flight is made over the intercom….see you in Muscat.
