Hello my lovely's, This week I have been adventuring around the south coast of Australia with one of best buds MY SISTER! We had decided to take a break from our studies and borrow a car from a friend for a wee road trip. LETS GO .
So I flew from Queenstown in NewZealand through Christchurch and In one of the main cities in Australia called Melbourne, known for its arty streets with retro builds that have stood the test of time , graffeti "art" and most importantely quirky cafes to eat delicious Vegan food!
The first day way a full day driving and trying to work our way out of the city to see our first glimpse of seaside by sunset with gave the sky a pinky glow that went perfectly with the deep orange mud like pigments of the cliff face.
Despite it being bitterly cold to the point where you need to tie your hair up because the wind is blowing at a 100km an hour the views along the way are just incredible and for sure make up for the weather. Note that with most of the viewpoint stops you will have to walk a little bit from each carpark to the actual viewpoint, but there are usually 2 or 3 options to choose from giving you different viewpoints for different length of walks. I would suggest if you have the time , try and see them all because each one is slightly different and you are experience one of the Natural Wanders of the world so soak it in!
The 664 km/413 miles, about 9.5 hours estimated drive took us three full days to complete.
This is with stoping a lot of the viewpoints, and soon releasing that it would take a lot longer to complete with all the photo breaks in between just about every km.
The drive is said to be "One of Victoria's most scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road is a magnificent three-day self-drive touring route from surf capital Torquay to the iconic 12 Apostles, ending at historic fishing village Port Fairy" from the website: http://www.visitvictoria.com/Regions/Great-Ocean-Road/Things-to-do/Touring-routes/Great-Ocean-Road-touring-route Which gives an over view of the route to take when starting from Melbourne like we did.
Overall this trip has been a blast seeing the 12 Pastels , travelling with my sister and road tripping the south coast of Australia. make sure you create some epic playlist so you can belt out your favourite songs for thee days straight.
